Dear Shikha, you must know that interview is a mutual process from both side and today amdocs is also well working on diffrent platforms. So dont worry about the UNIX thing go ahead with confidence and hit the wall with full efforts ALL THE WISHES

hi shika, itz true that every interview is a learning process but before going to interview first of all make yourself satisfy wheather u can shine in that field or not in which u wont have knowledge...itz better to becm perfect in the field in which u possess knowledge and grow urself in this dynamic world

Hi Shikha,

Don't restrain yourself from attending the interview. Every interview is a learning experience. Have they mentioned UNIX as a mandatory skill? If yes, start to glance through a UNIX command manual and concise C shell scripting documents. If you have a LINUX OS installed in your PC/lab, learning can be quick.
Also, in parallel see what sort of questions were asked to students, particularly from ECE background. Prepare on those lines. And I want to tell you the hard truth-companies have a clear consensus on whom they want to hire. Most companies while interviewing freshers, look for knowledge and academics in the native field. They expect some exposure to work and skills that they specialize in. Do your work and leave the rest to destiny!
All the best!

Whether you are from ECE or from IT/CS.
For a fresher it hardly counts. What matters is: Your confidence & Approach towards career.
Try google some UNIX concepts, its very simple.
HIT point is: Go for as many interviews as you can, it will always helps you to boost your moral/self confidence.

Best of Luck
Regards,
Sid

If you study unix architecture, you'll get a knowledge of operating system and kernels, which is very useful for advanced embedded application which has RTOS. Since amdocs deals with networking products, you can hope for the same domain (embedded networking products). But your stream will be entirely different than electronics background. Here you'll be dealing more with software's. It depends on your passion and interest.
Best of luck
