I am SAP BW consultant (3 yrs ) at HCL but unable to move forward. Cannot find a job in NCR and certification costs 6 lakhs. Even after cert theres no respect for certified consultants. Will be resigning in Oct as there is no hike or future in HCL. I am not doing what I should be doing.

Hi Anubhav, if I understand your question correctly you are asking 2 things. One is the career growth in the current profile and second one is regarding profile change itself. For career growth, you need to spend considerable time in a company (3 years is sufficient in IT) and you should get the results in that time and if you are not happy then look for a better place than the current one. Take a conscious decision of making a shift as you should not land up in a similar place. For profile improvement, try out different roles, may be a shift from Technical to Functional will broaden your aspect. Let me know if you have further queries.
Anubhav Kumar 1. In my current org I am done trying. As a matter of fact I have not worked as much as my CV says in SAP. Its the org fault.
2. I have loads of theoretical knowledge and I pass all interviews. But somehow dont get selected.
I will move to new city only when I resign or wont get a job in NCR

Anubhav Kumar the problems are that certification that is so costly can boost points but still does not guarantee a job. When you give an interview the job asks for cert as added advantage & ignores exp, when you show them cert they want experience. Its a dilemma.

Anubhav Kumar Shifting my module is 1 thing. Getting a job is becoming a headache. Comp want 50 million things in a 2-10 year range job posting which is unfair. And they give peanuts salary. They want Einstein in clerk's salary.

Prateek Why don't you rather get a management degree from a reputed college.

Anubhav Kumar @Prateek: Thanks but seems like an option everyone chooses who cant move ahead in IT world. I am in no mood to sit out and give a cat/xat etc. Moreover it costs a lot of money and I will be considered a mgmt trainee when I graduate and will end up in same hell.
