Hi, I am a CA by qualification and currently working with a UK based MNC from last 1.25 yrs. But I am apparently not satisfied with the profile and have keen interest in getting into investment banking. Second side of interest is also towards indian tax and laws. Please suggest an area
Since you are a CA, qualification wise you are a fit for both areas of work that you mentioned. If you are looking at investment banking, please understand that it involves a lot of hard work and takes a lot of time for graduating to actually working on deals which is the part of Investment Banking people normally know. Try and learn more about what is Investment Banking and what are the roles/profiles available there. You need to be able to be prepared to face these things in an Investment Banking job so that you don't land up in a similar situation as you are right now after a few months or years. Also understand that there is a slowdown in the Investment banking industry and so might take you longer to get a job there. Please refer to this article from Eco Times - http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/news-by-industry/banking/finance/over-200-i-bankers-out-of-deals-jobs-because-of-falling-markets-limited-deals/articleshow/20980442.cms. This is just to present a clear picture to you. Similarly if you interested in Indian tax and laws, you can either work for an auditing firm, or with your expertise, be working in areas like wealth management where your tax planning expertise will come handy. Hope this helps.
