Hi Priyanka,
First, don't let confusion to seep in. You mentioned that you wanted to switch to software. What made you to think so? And 'software' is a generic terminology. It involves a lot of domains. Are there some ones where you want to pursue your career? The electronics degree does not, mostly span many programming & other software courses. So, the level of exposure will be less. This may actually lessen the chances of finding a developer job, for instance. But, there is no reason to be worried. There are many good job openings, & all of them are open to Electronics engineers. You can probably look at the requirements of each of these companies, analyze their products and current work; then prepare on those lines. There are lot of courses, tests that are available online.
Mostly, students fresh out of college find jobs in service giants like CTS, Infosys, Wipro, TCS etc. They don't pose strong requirements for software skills. They expect good academics & clearing of the entrance tests.
Don't worry. Keep cool. Prepare well on things, which you are sure will fetch you a job. And, keep one thing in mind: Being an Electronics Engineer means being among the top 5% smart people in the world!

I think in Pune IT jobs are somehow have great openings. Ask your friends about choosing technology who are working in IT industries. But nowadays Dot net and java are widely using technologies in the IT industries. And others are Mainframe and SAP and databases. If you learn either Dot Net or java probably you would have knowledge about databases. So my suggestion is either Dot net or Java. Basically you are an electronics student. So you should learn C, OOPs, Database. If you learn these three, then no problem in knowing Dotnet or Java.
