Hi Naveen,
Those who are asking for such skills are not keen on hiring. Most companies pretend to make open the software jobs to graduates from other streams-instrumentation, electrical, electronics engineering. But, finally end up hiring CSE graduates. This is because they have to run a business and finding the right people is important. What is now fundamental to all engineers is knowledge of C. And this is not till study of pointers-It is from it! All other languages like C++, Java are based on C. If you haven't learnt much-start learning it. Studying a book doesn't help-write programs; for example a code to check if the entered numbers are correct in a Sudoko. With good knowledge of C and good aptitude, cracking interview papers shouldn't be difficult. Find the hiring companies over Naukri, elitmus, etc and start applying. If your interest is hardware, then finalize on a given hardware domain-VLSI/Embedded Systems/Communications etc. Make a list of companies, job openings, required skills. If they match your profile-apply through proper channel-websites, Naukri and employee referrals.

All the best!

Yeah you will get only IT opening as a fresher in ece coz core electronic company do not take freshers. You need to gain some industry standard knowledge. Search for a good institute for a placement oriented course in your region, otherwise best place to search is bangalore, hyderabad or pune.
Many VLSI core jobs lie in the area of physical design, FE/BE design, digital design, Verification etc. Getting a job in FE/Verification is easier than BE/physical. Choice is your to decide the field. For verification you have to be strong in programming like verilog, system verilog, UVM, OVM, VVM etc. For physical design job you need to be strong in core VLSI subjects and need to know the design tools operation. All the Best
