IITE the first constituent institution of the University also happens to be the oldest, having started in 2006. In the earlier stages it was affiliated to either Gujarat University or Gujarat Technological University before becoming a constituent institution of the Indus University in 2012. It offers four years duration Bachelors degree program in Automobile, Civil, Computers, Electrical, Electrical & Electronics, Electronics & Communication, Mechanical and Metallurgical disciplines of engineering, two years duration post graduate program in Business Administration and three years duration Post Graduate program in Computer Applications, all the programs recognized and approved by competent Academic administrative bodies either at State or National levels.

The courses offered at IITE conforms to the motto Where Practice Meets Theory in more than one sense of the term or the other with extended focus being given to practicing session over and above that of the normal practice session which is the norm followed by every other institutions/universities. Further the novelty of the program is the wholesome emphasis on Activity Based Learning wherein the students are encouraged to learn through carrying out Hands-on type activities related to the course not only to get the grasp over the subject but also a grip over the same. All the departments of the institution are equipped with laboratories with facilities keeping in view the requirements of the course curriculum as minimum. This has to be viewed in the context, of its age and experience since very few institutions would be able to come on par with the facilities available with the IITE, wherein, as said before the students learn by joy and not by force.

IITE also emphasis on taking up research development and consultancy activities not only aiming at the professional growth of the faculty and the students but also to address specific solution requirements of diverse professional environments. Students of the various departments of the Institute are always in the forefront of extending their active hands and mind to support the research activities of the faculty and staff of the Institute. Meritorious research publications have resulted from the institute and it is also noted for its large laudable contributions in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities not only of the University but also conducted by others thus paving the way for the University to carve a niche in technical and management education sectors in the city but the region as well.
