The Department of Business Administration at Mangalore University was founded in 1981 and 28 batches have passed out from its portal. Top priority is accorded here towards the creation of management graduates with strong fundamentals and firm basics of management. The curriculum that is followed has a balanced blend of practical and theory. Along with the prescribed syllabus, industrial visits, seminars, guest lectures, case studies and mini-projects are undertaken on a regular basis. Apart from the regular full time four semesters M.B.A and M.B.A (Tourism) programme, the department also offers Ph.D. programme. The course offers three specializations, i.e. Marketing Management, Financial Management and Human Resource Management. The Department has been accorded recognition from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).
It is an association started in 1994, comprising of the students, the alumni and faculty members of the department. The Management Association offers the students a chance to interact with the industry and also addresses their needs with reference to the study program while, an alumni association enables the alumni to remain in contact with the Department and provides a platform for the students to interact with the alumni.
CROSSROADS is an Inter-Collegiate Management Festival held every year with the aim of bringing together the best management students on a single platform. It provides a chance for students from various Business Schools to interact and display their talents. Crossroads is organized and run wholly by the students of the Department of Business Administration right here in Mangalore University. It provides a real life practical test of Managerial and Organizational Skills.
The industrial visits help the students get a first hand idea about the functioning and management of industries. Industrial visits are divided into two stages. In the first stage the major industries in and around Mangalore are visited while in the second stage a major outstation business center is chosen for a period of about eight to ten days and various industries in that particular city are visited.
