Q1 Tell me about your favorite/least favorite job.

Example #1 “Some years ago, I worked as a volunteer at a local NGO. I liked the job but my boss never appreciated my work. He was negative all the time, yet I did my best and worked hard. Eventually I had to move out of the system. I had to learn it the bitter way that having a boss who is encouraging and motivating can make a world of difference!”

Example #2 “I have never had a job that I did not like. I feel it is not necessary that every job will be 100% satisfying and glamorous. We do not live in a perfect world after all! However, my freelance experiences and internship opportunities have taught me valuable skills and new life lessons that I cherish every day.

Q2 What does your home office look like?

You have to reassure your HR manager that the environment you would be working from is comfortable. Convince the HR that you can be productive due to zero distractions at home.

Example #1I have put in a lot of effort to design and organize my home office space. I study and work for 9 hours here every day. This room is free of distractions and allows a strong internet connectivity. That’s probably because I have placed the home WiFi router in my office room.”

Example #2My home office space is a solo guest room on the roof of my house. I happily isolate myself in this room and focus productively on my studies and projects. I like my quiet home office space and this is exactly where I plan to start working soon.

How would you minimize distractions when you work from home?

Your hiring manager knows very well that while working from home, you will face challenges to stay focused. You have to convince them that you can abate interruptions and be productive everyday.

Example #I have listed every single distraction of my day to day life. These include phone calls made by friends, chats and pings, doing dirty laundry or dirty dishes, playful and noisy kids at home, TV noise etc. To abate distraction caused by some major reasons, I have designated specific time intervals to each of them. For instance, I have reserved 7 pm to 8:30 pm in the evening for my friends. I also talk and play with my siblings, nephews and pets in the morning between 8 and 9 am. When it comes to chores, I have split them with my siblings and we finish them together before bedtime.”

I am used to this as many times during vacations and during coronavirus pandemic emergency, me and my friends had to attend online classes. So all of us would join the class on time. Also, we could interact freely on the platform like a regular classroom setting.”
